Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that communications and exchanges of messages between Tehran and Washington remain ongoing, emphasizing that much of what is being reported about the negotiations is based on speculation.
Speaking to Iranian state-affiliated media on Sunday, Araghchi said Tehran does not place significant importance on media speculation and believes it is too early to judge the outcome of the talks before a clear result is achieved.
His remarks come amid continued diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and exploring the possibility of a broader agreement between Iran and the United States.
Earlier, senior Iranian negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Tehran would not sign any preliminary understanding with Washington unless it receives what he described as “real guarantees.”
At the same time, a source familiar with the negotiations told CBS News that US President Donald Trump made additional revisions to a draft agreement before it was sent back to Tehran through mediators.
According to the source, this is the third time that modifications have reportedly been made to the American proposal during the ongoing exchange of documents between the two sides.
President Trump has previously said that Washington is close to reaching what he called a “good agreement” with Iran. He has also warned that military options remain available if a final deal fails to meet US expectations.
Despite ongoing contacts and diplomatic activity, no official agreement has been announced by either side.
As negotiations continue, significant uncertainty remains over key issues including security guarantees, sanctions relief, regional tensions, and the future of Iran’s nuclear program.
Observers say the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining whether the diplomatic process leads to a breakthrough or returns to a period of heightened confrontation.
