Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Tehran does not seek war but will respond with strength and determination to what he described as aggression.
Speaking on Monday, before leaving Tehran for Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Pezeshkian said that the expansion of insecurity and instability in the region benefits no country and could create challenges for all sides.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek war, but it will respond to aggression with strength and determination,” he said.
The Iranian president also stressed that Tehran would not remain silent in the face of any act of aggression.
His remarks come amid reports of a new round of military clashes between Iran and the United States. According to available reports, Larak Island in southern Iran was targeted in an attack, followed by reported Iranian missile strikes against US military positions in Jordan.
Amid rising military tensions, Pezeshkian has traveled to Bishkek to attend the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
