Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization has announced extended operating hours for Tehran’s two main airports, Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini, as authorities push to accelerate the normalization of domestic and international air travel.
Majid Akhavan, spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Organization, said the airports will now operate daily from 4:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.
According to Iranian aviation authorities, all domestic and international flights can now operate within the expanded schedule under newly issued aviation notices.
Officials said the decision was made to reduce flight delays and improve management of growing air traffic.
International flights from Iran had been suspended since the outbreak of last year’s conflict in March, according to Iranian officials. Operations gradually resumed in early April as restrictions began to ease.
During the conflict, the United States and Israel reportedly targeted several Iranian airports and aircraft in a series of airstrikes that disrupted parts of Iran’s aviation network and affected flight operations across the country.
Iranian authorities are now attempting to restore regular air traffic and speed up the gradual recovery of the country’s aviation sector following months of disruption.
