The National Resistance Front (NRF) of Afghanistan says its forces carried out two separate operations against Taliban positions in the northern provinces of Baghlan and Badakhshan on Wednesday evening.
According to a statement released by the group, the first operation took place at around 11:00 p.m. in the Pashayiha area along Baghlan’s central highway.
The NRF claimed that a fuel tanker belonging to the Taliban’s Kunduz Army Corps was set on fire during the attack. The group alleged that one Taliban member was killed and another wounded as a result of the operation.
The resistance movement said its fighters withdrew from the area without suffering casualties and returned safely to their positions.
The NRF also reported a second operation in Yawan district of Badakhshan province.
According to the group, fighting began from multiple directions and continued for more than an hour.
The NRF claimed that two Taliban members were killed and three others wounded during the clash. It further stated that its own forces did not suffer casualties in the operation.
Taliban authorities have not publicly responded to the claims, and the casualty figures and operational details provided by the National Resistance Front could not be independently verified.
The reported incidents come as the NRF has repeatedly announced attacks against Taliban forces in northern and northeastern Afghanistan over recent months.
The Taliban, however, continue to maintain that they have full control over Afghanistan’s security situation and insist that no organized threat poses a significant challenge to their rule.
The competing narratives underscore the ongoing dispute over the security situation in Afghanistan. While resistance groups claim to be expanding armed activities, Taliban officials continue to portray the country as stable and under complete government control. Independent verification of battlefield claims remains difficult due to limited access to many affected areas.
