Security forces in Herat have arrested two individuals on suspicion of drug trafficking during a targeted operation, officials confirmed.
According to authorities, the suspects were found in possession of 16 kilograms of narcotics, identified as a substance locally known as “Chainak.”
The operation was carried out by border forces as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
The detained individuals have been transferred to a relevant unit for further investigation and are expected to be handed over to judicial authorities upon completion of initial procedures.
Herat, located near key transit routes, has long been considered a strategic point in regional trafficking networks.
Officials continue to highlight enforcement actions, though the broader scale of trafficking activity remains a concern.
Angle Analysis:
While such arrests demonstrate operational activity, their limited scale raises questions about their actual impact on larger, well-established trafficking networks operating across border regions.
