Taliban Reportedly Take Control of Rah-e-Farda Television Office

طالبان دفتر تلویزیون «راه فردا» در کابل را تصرف کردند

Taliban forces reportedly seized the Kabul office of Rah-e-Farda Television on Sunday, according to sources, in another development affecting a media outlet linked to a prominent Afghan political figure.

Rah-e-Farda Television is owned by Muhammad Mohaqiq, a prominent Hazara political figure. The outlet’s office is located in western Kabul, near an office associated with community affairs involving Hazara and Shia elders.

Sources said the reported seizure of the television office followed the seizure of Mohaqiq’s home in Kabul.

No further details have been made public about how the office was taken, which Taliban authorities were involved, or what happened to the outlet’s employees.

The reported development comes in an environment in which media organizations and political figures in Afghanistan continue to operate under significant restrictions following the Taliban’s return to power.

Because the information comes from sources and has not been publicly detailed by the Taliban, the circumstances of the reported seizure remain unclear.

From Nimruz’s perspective, the significance of the incident extends beyond the physical takeover of a media office. Rah-e-Farda is linked to a prominent Hazara political figure, making the reported seizure relevant both to Afghanistan’s media environment and to the position of political and community figures outside the Taliban’s governing structure.

If confirmed, the takeover would raise further questions about the ability of independent or politically affiliated media outlets to maintain their operations under Taliban rule.

The immediate issue, however, remains the lack of information about the employees and the future of the broadcaster. Until the Taliban or independent sources provide further details, the reported seizure should be treated as an unverified account rather than an established description of the circumstances.
