U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee says the Iranian government should recognize the seriousness of President Donald Trump’s warnings about possible military action.
Speaking to Al Arabiya English, Huckabee said he expects Iranian officials to gradually understand that Trump would be prepared to use military force if he concludes that it is the only remaining option.
Huckabee referred to what he described as two major blows against Iran and said Tehran should take Trump’s warnings seriously.
He pointed to previous statements by the U.S. president warning Iran against pursuing a nuclear weapon and continuing uranium enrichment, while also demanding that the Strait of Hormuz remain open.
Asked whether Trump would actually order military action against Iran, Huckabee said the decision rests solely with the U.S. president.
“I can’t answer that,” Huckabee said, stressing that Trump is the only elected official with the authority to make and implement such a decision.
The ambassador said he trusts Trump’s judgment and argued that the president has made the right decisions so far on the issue.
Huckabee’s comments come as tensions between Tehran and Washington remain centered on Iran’s nuclear program and the status of the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. officials have repeatedly kept military action as a possible option if diplomatic efforts fail. Tehran, meanwhile, continues to reject pressure to accept Washington’s conditions and maintains its positions on its nuclear program and the strategic waterway.
Huckabee’s remarks underscore that the military option remains part of Washington’s pressure strategy toward Tehran. However, whether that option is actually used would ultimately depend on Trump’s assessment of the situation and his decision to authorize military action.
