A new book claims that U.S. President Donald Trump strongly urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accept a Gaza ceasefire proposal during a phone call held several days before the agreement was announced.
The account appears in Regime Change: Inside the Empire Presidency of Donald Trump, written by New York Times journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan.
According to the authors, Trump told Netanyahu, “All the Jews are tired of you,” and insisted that he should not back away from the ceasefire agreement.
The book also claims that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had warned White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles that Netanyahu might attempt to alter the agreement. As a result, Witkoff and Kushner were reportedly present during the phone call.
The authors further allege that Trump told Netanyahu, “I’m the best friend Israel has ever had. This agreement is very important for Israel.”
According to the book, Netanyahu agreed to the ceasefire proposal following the conversation and appeared alongside Trump at a joint news conference two days later.
The claims are based solely on the authors’ account in the book. Neither Trump, Netanyahu nor U.S. and Israeli officials have publicly commented on the reported details.
