A group of Afghan citizens living in Nuremberg, Germany, held a protest rally to condemn Taliban-imposed restrictions and growing pressure on women and girls in Afghanistan.
Dozens of Afghan community members and social activists participated in the gathering, chanting slogans such as “Woman, Life, Freedom,” “Education Is Our Right,” and “Work, Education and Freedom Are the Fundamental Rights of Afghan Women.”
Participants called for greater international attention to the situation of women in Afghanistan and urged governments and international organizations to take stronger action in support of their rights.
Demonstrators also carried the message that “the voice of Afghan women will not be silenced,” emphasizing their commitment to continuing civil and protest activities in solidarity with women inside Afghanistan.
Several German citizens joined the rally and expressed support for Afghan women by standing alongside protesters and participating in the demonstration.
The participants demanded the protection of fundamental rights for women and girls, including access to education, employment opportunities and the freedom to participate fully in society.
Protesters also appealed to international institutions, including the United Nations and the European Union, to increase pressure in support of women’s rights in Afghanistan.
Some speakers criticized what they described as political legitimization of the Taliban and called for the removal of Taliban representatives from Afghan diplomatic missions abroad.
Participants stressed that they would continue organizing protests and advocacy campaigns until the voices of Afghan women and the Afghan people are heard more effectively in international forums.
The demonstration comes amid continuing concern among human rights organizations, civil society groups and international observers over restrictions affecting women and girls in Afghanistan.
Advocates say sustained international engagement remains essential to ensuring that women’s rights remain a central issue in discussions concerning Afghanistan’s future.
