A group of 60 refugees was identified by Greek authorities after reaching Kakorma Beach on the southern coast of the island of Samos and has since been transferred to a reception facility.
According to available information, the group consisted of 30 men, 20 women and 10 children. After arriving on the island, they shared their location and photographs with humanitarian organizations to confirm their presence.
No medical emergencies were reported among the group.
Authorities said the refugees became temporarily separated while moving inland because of extreme heat and the presence of families with young children, delaying efforts to locate everyone.
After several hours of searching, local officials and relevant agencies initially located 53 people and transferred them to the Closed Controlled Access Centre known as “Zervou.”
Officials later confirmed that all 60 members of the group had been located and are now under the supervision of the responsible authorities.
The arrival is part of the continuing flow of migrants and refugees crossing the Aegean Sea to the Greek islands, where authorities continue to process new arrivals under Greece’s migration procedures.
