Yue Xiaoyong, China’s special envoy for Afghanistan, met with Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a visit to Doha to discuss the latest developments in Afghanistan.
According to a statement released by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on ways to strengthen joint international efforts aimed at promoting security and stability in Afghanistan.
During the talks, the Qatari official emphasized Doha’s support for peaceful solutions to conflicts and efforts to strengthen peace and stability at both regional and international levels.
Qatar has played an active role in Afghan affairs in recent years and has hosted multiple diplomatic meetings and negotiations related to Afghanistan.
At the same time, China has sought to expand its political and economic influence in Afghanistan and the wider region, particularly in areas related to regional security, investment, and the prevention of instability.
Analysts say continued diplomatic coordination between countries such as China and Qatar demonstrates that Afghanistan remains an important issue in regional strategic calculations.
Experts believe concerns over instability, security threats, economic collapse, and cross-border risks are pushing regional actors toward deeper cooperation and dialogue regarding Afghanistan.
Specialists also note that while Qatar increasingly positions itself as a diplomatic mediator and dialogue platform, China’s interests are closely tied to long-term regional stability, economic connectivity, and limiting security threats near its western borders.
