As Donald Trump and Xi Jinping entered the second day of their high-level meetings, the Chinese government announced that Beijing is working “relentlessly” to help end the war involving Iran and promote peace in the Middle East.
In an official statement released on Friday, 25 Sawr, China said it hopes to play a constructive role in achieving lasting peace through stronger support for diplomatic negotiations.
According to the statement, China’s efforts are being guided by a four-point proposal introduced by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The proposal emphasizes peaceful coexistence, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, adherence to international law, and balancing development with security.
At the same time, Trump and Xi continued their discussions today at Zhongnanhai, the highly secured leadership compound in Beijing.
Meetings held on the previous day were described as “positive.”
The White House had earlier stated that China aligned with the United States on the importance of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and had expressed willingness to assist efforts aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz has become one of the central flashpoints of the regional crisis following military confrontations involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, with disruptions heavily affecting global energy markets.
Analysts say China’s latest position indicates that Beijing is trying to maintain its relationship with Tehran while simultaneously taking a more active role in crisis management and preventing further escalation.
Experts also believe China is increasingly seeking to present itself as a stabilizing global power capable of influencing major geopolitical crises beyond Asia.
According to specialists, Beijing’s growing diplomatic engagement reflects broader ambitions to expand its political influence in the Middle East while protecting critical economic and energy interests linked to regional stability.
