The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a reward of $200,000 for information leading to the arrest of Monica Witt, a former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer.
According to an FBI statement, Monica Witt is accused of being recruited by Iranian intelligence agencies after attending two conferences in Tehran.
U.S. officials said the conferences were organized by “New Horizon,” a company reportedly linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The U.S. Department of Justice had previously accused Witt of cooperating with Iran in cyber espionage operations targeting American personnel and institutions.
In its latest statement, the FBI emphasized that “Monica Witt has not been forgotten” and said it believes individuals inside Iran may know her whereabouts.
Monica Witt previously served in the U.S. Air Force, and her case has become one of the most controversial allegations involving a former American intelligence official accused of cooperating with Iran.
U.S. authorities claim that after leaving the United States, she provided sensitive and classified information to the Iranian government.
Iran has not yet issued a new official response to the FBI’s latest statement.
Analysts say the renewed attention to the case comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran and reflects continued U.S. concern over espionage and insider security threats.
Experts also note that the case remains highly sensitive because it involves a former intelligence officer with access to classified military information and knowledge of U.S. security operations.
