Local sources in Takhar province report that a violent incident occurred in the pediatric intensive care unit (ICU) of the provincial specialized hospital.
According to these sources, the incident began when doctors asked patient attendants to follow hospital regulations and avoid entering a restricted female ward, which led to a verbal confrontation.
Minutes later, an attacker armed with a knife entered the doctors’ rest room and carried out the assault.
As a result of the attack, four individuals were seriously injured and around ten others sustained wounds.
Sources say this marks the third attack targeting healthcare staff at the same hospital, raising serious concerns about the lack of security in medical facilities.
In response, doctors have called for urgent measures to ensure hospital safety, warning that continued insecurity could reduce staff presence and further weaken an already fragile healthcare system.
