Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran is prepared to accept a “fair and comprehensive” agreement with the United States, signaling conditional openness to diplomacy amid escalating regional tensions.
Araghchi made the remarks on Wednesday, 16 Sawr, during talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing. He described China as a “close friend” and said Iran believes strategic cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow stronger under current conditions.
At the same time, Araghchi accused the United States of initiating a war in violation of international law and stated that Iran would make every effort to defend its rights and interests in negotiations with Washington.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that Beijing is prepared to continue efforts aimed at reducing tensions and stressed the importance of direct dialogue between Tehran and Washington.
He warned that the region stands at a “critical turning point” and said there is an urgent need for a comprehensive ceasefire, adding that continued conflict is unacceptable and that diplomacy remains essential.
The meeting highlights China’s growing role as a diplomatic actor in regional crises, particularly as tensions between Iran and the United States continue to shape broader geopolitical dynamics.
At the same time, Tehran’s language suggests that while negotiations remain possible, Iran is seeking to frame any future agreement around conditions it considers politically and strategically acceptable.
