Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced on Thursday, 17 Sawr, that he held a two-and-a-half-hour meeting with Mojtaba Khamenei, in remarks that have drawn attention amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the visibility and condition of Iran’s new supreme leader.
Speaking during a gathering with business representatives at the Ministry of Industry, Pezeshkian did not specify when the meeting took place but described Mojtaba Khamenei’s behavior as “humble and sincere,” emphasizing that the atmosphere of the discussion was based on trust and direct communication.
The comments come one week after the reported killing of Ali Khamenei in a US-Israeli attack, after which Mojtaba Khamenei was announced as the new leader of the Islamic Republic.
Since that announcement, however, no official images or videos of Mojtaba Khamenei have been released publicly, with Iranian media only publishing written statements attributed to him.
At the same time, reports have circulated claiming he was injured during an attack on the leadership compound, though these claims have not been officially confirmed.
Pezeshkian’s public reference to the meeting appears aimed at projecting continuity and stability at the top of Iran’s power structure, particularly as the absence of public appearances has fueled speculation about the new leader’s condition and authority.
His emphasis on calmness and personal rapport may also reflect efforts by the Iranian establishment to rebuild the image of leadership following recent crises.
Nevertheless, analysts note that uncertainty surrounding Mojtaba Khamenei’s visibility and political standing is likely to persist until he appears publicly and directly addresses the nation.
