Pakistan is reportedly intensifying its diplomatic efforts to help reduce tensions between Iran and the United States and prevent a further escalation of the crisis in the Middle East.
According to media reports, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has traveled to Saudi Arabia. An unnamed Pakistani official told reporters that the visit comes as regional tensions have once again intensified.
At the same time, sources in the Pakistani prime minister’s office told the newspaper Dawn that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to make official visits to Iran and Türkiye from July 3 to July 6 as part of Islamabad’s efforts to support mediation and help ease the Middle East crisis.
The sources said the planned visits are intended to facilitate diplomatic consultations with key regional powers. However, Pakistani authorities have not yet officially announced the details or agenda of the trips.
Earlier, several Iranian media outlets reported that Shehbaz Sharif would travel to Tehran to attend the funeral and burial ceremonies of Ali Khamenei. Pakistani officials, however, have not officially confirmed those reports.
The latest diplomatic activity reflects Pakistan’s broader effort to engage with regional stakeholders at a time of heightened instability and uncertainty across the Middle East.
