Taliban Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani has called on Afghan political leaders living abroad to return to Afghanistan, saying they have been granted amnesty.
Speaking in Bamyan after a visit to Panjshir, Haqqani said Afghans living outside the country should return, describing Afghanistan as their home.
He said that following the Doha Agreement, a general amnesty had been declared and that no one would face prosecution.
Haqqani also blamed ethnic, regional and linguistic divisions in Afghanistan on what he described as hostile efforts by foreign countries.
He called on Afghans to move forward under a unified system and stressed the importance of unity and solidarity for maintaining security and stability.
The Taliban have repeatedly called on former government officials and political opponents living abroad to return to Afghanistan, citing their general amnesty.
However, some opponents of the Taliban have continued to raise concerns about their safety and the conditions for returning.
Political participation, an inclusive government and guarantees for the security of former officials and political opponents remain among the key areas of disagreement between the Taliban and their opponents.
