U.S. President Donald Trump has described reports of an attack on a school in Minab as “horrific,” while cautioning that it is too early to determine who was responsible for the incident.
Speaking in the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump said he had not yet received the final investigative report and urged patience until the inquiry is completed.
“I don’t know if they will even be able to determine who was responsible,” Trump said. “Missiles were being fired from all directions at that time.”
The president noted that some reports had suggested the missile involved in the attack may have belonged to the United States, but said he had seen no evidence supporting that claim.
“Some people said it was our missile,” Trump stated. “But I have not seen any evidence that would lead me to conclude that it was an American missile.”
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also addressed the incident, saying the Pentagon is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness and continues to review all available information.
According to Hegseth, the findings of the investigation will be released once the review process is completed.
Trump reiterated that he does not believe the final results of the investigation will show that the United States was responsible for the strike.
The incident has drawn international attention amid broader regional tensions and competing claims regarding responsibility. Officials have emphasized that conclusions should not be reached before investigators complete their work and present verified findings.
As investigations continue, questions remain about the circumstances surrounding the strike, the origin of the projectile involved and the impact of the incident on civilians in the affected area.
