Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has strongly criticized recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, describing Washington’s approach as “repetitive theatrical diplomacy.”
In a post published Thursday on the social media platform X, Qalibaf wrote: “A massive attack is coming… wait… ignore it… now they want negotiations. This is the same theatrical diplomacy on repeat.”
He argued that relying on threats, coercion and what he described as “fake news” has proven to be an unsuccessful strategy.
Qalibaf added that the United States should accept realities and fulfill its commitments instead of relying on political messaging, stating: “We do not need more shows.”
His remarks came after Trump claimed that the United States had been on the verge of launching a large-scale military strike against Iran but decided to halt the operation after Tehran requested that negotiations continue.
Iranian officials have consistently rejected pressure-based diplomacy while maintaining that any negotiations must respect Iran’s national interests and sovereignty.
The exchange highlights continuing tensions between Tehran and Washington as diplomatic contacts and public rhetoric continue in parallel.
