The Swiss government has announced that delegations from the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States will meet on Friday in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, to begin preliminary discussions on implementing their recently announced memorandum of understanding.
According to a statement released by Swiss authorities, Pakistan and Qatar will participate in the meeting as mediators. Representatives from several other countries involved in the diplomatic process are also expected to attend.
Switzerland, which is hosting the official gathering of the Iranian and American delegations, said the purpose of the meeting is to launch initial discussions on how the memorandum between Tehran and Washington will be implemented.
“In the current planning, the United States and Iran, together with Pakistan and Qatar as mediators and other countries involved in the process, will gather in Bürgenstock for preliminary negotiations on the implementation of the memorandum,” the Swiss statement said.
Swiss officials added that further details regarding the schedule, the level of participation and the full agenda have not yet been publicly released.
The meeting comes after officials from the United States, Iran and Pakistan announced in recent days that a memorandum of understanding had been signed and that a new phase of diplomatic engagement was beginning.
Observers expect the talks to focus on practical and technical issues related to implementation, including compliance mechanisms, verification procedures, confidence-building measures and the sequencing of commitments by both sides.
The Bürgenstock meeting is widely viewed as an important step in translating recent diplomatic progress into a structured negotiation process.
Analysts note that the success of the implementation phase could determine whether the current understanding evolves into a broader and more durable agreement between Tehran and Washington.
With regional and international attention focused on the negotiations, the upcoming discussions are expected to play a significant role in shaping the future direction of relations between the two countries and broader stability in the region.
