Residents in several provinces of Afghanistan report a noticeable increase in armed robberies, raising concerns about public safety.
According to accounts shared by citizens, incidents involving theft of mobile phones, vehicles, motorcycles, and cash have risen significantly in recent weeks. Reports also point to an increase in armed robberies targeting homes and shops.
Many residents say insecurity is particularly severe at night. In some areas, including parts of Kabul such as Taimani, people report feeling unsafe leaving their homes after dark.
One resident said that despite the presence of checkpoints, theft has not decreased, and the checkpoints themselves have created additional difficulties for daily movement.
Some citizens also allege that certain criminals may have connections within security structures, although these claims have not been independently verified.
The reported rise in crime has heightened concerns about the actual security situation and the capacity of authorities to control criminal activity, particularly in contrast to official statements emphasizing improved security conditions.
