Pakistan Announces Temporary Halt to Military Operations in Afghanistan

Pakistan says it will temporarily halt its military operations against targets in Afghanistan.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the decision was made at the request of Saudi Arabia and in observance of Eid al-Fitr.

He said the pause includes a suspension of attacks on what Pakistan described as “terrorists and their support infrastructure.”

According to the announcement, the temporary ceasefire began at midnight on March 18–19, 2026, and will remain in effect until midnight on March 23–24.

The decision comes amid a recent surge in clashes and cross-border attacks between Taliban forces and Pakistan.
