Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it carried out a new wave of attacks targeting energy infrastructure across the region.
In a statement, the IRGC said the first phase of what it called “Wave 96” was launched in retaliation for strikes on the “B1 bridge in Karaj and the Mahshahr petrochemical complex.”
According to the statement, the targets included a refinery supplying fuel to Israeli fighter jets in Haifa.
The IRGC also claimed attacks on gas facilities linked to ExxonMobil and Chevron in Habshan in the United Arab Emirates, as well as a missile strike on a US-linked petrochemical site in Al Ruwais.
It further reported a drone strike on a US-linked petrochemical facility in Sitra, Bahrain, and an attack on a US-associated petrochemical installation in Shuaiba, Kuwait.
The claims have not been independently verified.
The IRGC warned that if attacks on what it described as civilian targets are repeated, a second phase of the operation would be “more severe and widespread.”
