Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that any threat against the Iranian people or the country’s leadership would be met with an “immediate and powerful” response.
His remarks came after Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that if Iran launched missiles at Israel, the Israeli military would respond with force. Katz also stated that Israel’s armed forces were prepared to carry out independent military operations against Iran if necessary.
Araghchi said the provisions of the Islamabad Memorandum are “completely clear” and can be reviewed by all parties.
He also claimed that the President of the United States had committed Washington to restraining Israel under the framework of the memorandum. According to Araghchi, if Israel violates the terms of the agreement, the Islamic Republic will respond.
The latest exchange of warnings comes as political and military tensions between Iran and Israel remain high, with officials from both sides continuing to issue public threats of retaliatory action.
