France has announced that it is prepared to participate in implementing the newly signed agreement between Israel and Lebanon, describing the deal as an important step toward reducing tensions and restoring stability in southern Lebanon.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the French Foreign Ministry said France remains committed to the security of both Israel and Lebanon and is ready to contribute to the implementation of the agreement and the achievement of all its objectives.
The ministry stated that France, which plays a role in maintaining peace in southern Lebanon, views the agreement as an opportunity to strengthen regional stability and reduce the risk of renewed conflict.
Paris also stressed that full implementation of the agreement should pave the way for the Lebanese government to restore its sovereignty across the entire country.
In addition, France reaffirmed its support for ensuring that the Lebanese state holds the exclusive right to possess weapons and called for the withdrawal of Israeli military forces from Lebanese territory.
The statement follows the signing of a U.S.-brokered framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon aimed at reducing border tensions, facilitating the deployment of the Lebanese Army in designated areas and creating conditions for future peace negotiations.
The latest round of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah began on March 2 after Hezbollah launched rocket attacks in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, triggering a broader escalation along the Israel-Lebanon border.
