Following Economic Hardship, Afghan Children Forced Into Work Instead of School

کودکان کار در کابل: فقر ما را از مکتب گرفت

Rising poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan are forcing many children to work instead of attending school.

These children say they are carrying the burden of supporting their families rather than experiencing a normal childhood.

Pir Mohammad, a child who moved from Baghlan to Kabul, said he once dreamed of going to school and becoming an engineer but is now forced to work.

Another child, Wesal, said he works from morning until evening, yet his income is still not enough to support his family.

Other children also report being deprived of education and facing economic pressure, saying their families cannot afford living or schooling costs.

Child rights activists warn that the continuation of this situation could put the future of an entire generation at serious risk.

Previous reports have also highlighted the difficult conditions faced by working children in Afghanistan.
