Local sources in Kabul say Taliban fighters carried out house-to-house search operations in parts of the city’s Ninth District on Sunday.
According to residents, Taliban forces surrounded the area early in the morning and began searching homes and inspecting civilians.
Sources said the operation started after clashes reportedly took place near Kabul airport the previous night.
One resident told Hasht-e Subh newspaper: “I was at home around 10 o’clock when they knocked on the door. I saw many Taliban forces outside. They said they were conducting searches.”
The resident added that Taliban fighters restricted people’s movement throughout the area and carried out body searches on civilians.
According to local sources, Taliban authorities also brought women with them to conduct searches of female residents during the operation.
Northern districts of Kabul have repeatedly witnessed similar Taliban search operations in the past.
The Taliban have not yet officially commented on the operation or explained the reasons behind it.
