Taliban authorities say four people, including Ehsanullah, the son of former Afghan parliament member Allah Gul Mujahid, were killed during an armed clash near Kabul’s Shahzada market on Sunday afternoon.
Khalid Zadran, spokesperson for the Taliban police command in Kabul, said one of Allah Gul Mujahid’s guards, a woman, and another individual were also killed in the incident.
According to Zadran, the shooting took place inside the gold market near Shahzada market, one of Kabul’s busiest financial and currency exchange centers.
He added that one of the attackers was arrested at the scene while wounded.
Zadran also said Taliban forces detained a member of Allah Gul Mujahid’s family on suspicion of involvement in the incident, while investigations remain ongoing.
Shahzada market is considered Kabul’s largest hub for currency exchange and financial transactions, attracting hundreds of traders and customers every day.
The incident comes amid continuing concerns about rising armed crime and deteriorating security conditions in the Afghan capital.
