Iran’s judiciary has announced the execution of Erfan Kiani, a protest detainee arrested in January 2026.
In an official statement, the judiciary said Kiani had been charged with acts including destruction and arson of public and private property, as well as creating fear and disorder in the city.
Authorities stated that the death sentence was carried out after being upheld by the Supreme Court.
No further details have been provided regarding the legal proceedings or access to defense during the trial.
The case is linked to broader protest-related arrests, which have drawn attention from rights observers in recent years.
Executions connected to protest cases have remained a sensitive issue, with ongoing debate over due process and the use of capital punishment in such contexts.
