Iranian media reported on Monday that authorities have approved the restoration of international internet access following the fourth meeting of the country’s cyberspace management and coordination council.
According to the reports, the council was formed under the leadership of Mohammad Reza Aref, Iran’s first vice president, and backed by President Masoud Pezeshkian.
No further details have been released regarding the exact timeline for implementing the decision or how full international internet access will be restored.
Iran has faced repeated internet disruptions and restrictions in recent months, prompting criticism from users, media activists, and digital rights organizations.
Experts say internet restrictions in Iran have had broad political, social, and economic consequences, affecting online businesses, media activity, and international communications.
The latest announcement comes as control over cyberspace and public access to unrestricted internet remain among the most controversial domestic issues inside Iran.
