Tajikistan’s Asia-Plus media group has launched a Persian-language service to coincide with the country’s 35th anniversary of independence.
The media group said the new section is intended to give Persian-speaking audiences access to major developments in Tajikistan, Central Asia and around the world, while strengthening cultural and media links between Tajikistan and the wider Persian-speaking world.
Asia-Plus said the initiative is also aligned with Tajikistan’s government policies aimed at expanding the use of the Persian script and placing greater emphasis on the country’s shared historical and cultural heritage.
The launch gives Tajikistan’s established independent media group a new platform for reaching Persian-speaking audiences beyond the country’s borders. It also comes as Dushanbe has increasingly emphasized linguistic and cultural connections with the broader Persian-speaking space.
From a Nimruz perspective, the significance of the move extends beyond the launch of another media section. A Persian-language platform based in Tajikistan could create a new channel for information and cultural exchange across a linguistic space that connects Tajikistan with Afghanistan and Iran, while also presenting Tajikistan’s own perspective to Persian-speaking audiences.
The initiative therefore has both a media and cultural dimension: it expands Asia-Plus’s audience while placing the Persian language and shared heritage more visibly at the center of Tajikistan’s regional cultural outreach.
