The Green Trend movement led by former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh has claimed responsibility for an attack targeting a Taliban military recruitment center in Firozkoh, the capital of Ghor province.
In a statement released Monday, the group said its fighters planted explosives inside a Taliban recruitment command building before detonating them.
The movement also published a video that it said showed the operation and the explosion inside the facility.
“Green Unit guerrilla fighters had skillfully placed sensitive explosives inside the Taliban army recruitment command in Firozkoh, Ghor province, which later exploded,” the statement said.
At least three local sources confirmed that an explosion occurred in parts of Firozkoh on Monday, according to information provided to Afghanistan International. Residents said the blast was heard across sections of the city.
No official casualty figures have been released, and local sources have not confirmed the extent of the damage.
The Green Trend said the exact number of Taliban casualties remains unclear but vowed to continue attacks “until Afghanistan is free.”
The incident marks the second time the Green Trend has independently claimed responsibility for an attack against Taliban forces through its official channels, separate from the National Resistance Front led by Ahmad Massoud.
The group previously claimed responsibility for an attack targeting Taliban patrol forces in Mazar-i-Sharif earlier this year.
Amrullah Saleh, Afghanistan’s former vice president, joined anti-Taliban resistance forces in Panjshir after the collapse of the previous Afghan government in 2021.
A Taliban official, however, denied that the attack took place when questioned by Afghanistan International.
The claims made by the Green Trend have not been independently verified by other official sources.
