At least eight Pakistani soldiers were killed in a suicide attack in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to reports, the attack took place in the Bajaur district in northwestern Pakistan near the Afghanistan border.
The suicide bomber reportedly targeted a gathering of Pakistani military personnel.
Pakistani security sources have not yet released further details regarding the number of wounded or the identity of the attacker.
Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Bajaur has witnessed repeated armed attacks and deadly explosions in recent years and remains one of the most unstable areas along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border.
The growing number of attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has intensified concerns over Pakistan’s security situation and the activities of militant groups operating near border regions.
Islamabad has repeatedly claimed that some armed groups use Afghan territory to launch attacks against Pakistan, allegations the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan have consistently denied.
Analysts say the continuation of such attacks highlights persistent instability and the difficulty of controlling militant networks in the border region.
Experts also warn that escalating violence could further strain relations between Islamabad and the Taliban administration, particularly as mutual accusations over cross-border militancy continue to grow.
