Taliban Signal Conditional Willingness to Improve Pakistan TiesBorder Strikes and Diplomacy Collide

در اوج حملات مرزی؛ طالبان برای بهبود روابط با پاکستان اعلام آمادگی کرد

Abdul Wasi, chief of staff to the Taliban prime minister, has said the group is prepared to take “two steps” toward improving relations with Pakistan if Islamabad moves to reduce tensions.

According to an official statement, he simultaneously condemned recent Pakistani strikes on residential areas in Afghanistan’s Kunar province, calling attacks on civilians unjustifiable.

The remarks come amid continuing border violence and rising security concerns along the Afghanistan-Pakistan frontier.

The Taliban’s stated willingness to pursue confidence-building measures while condemning ongoing military pressure reflects a dual-track approach combining diplomatic signaling with criticism of Pakistani actions.

The position has also prompted broader questions over how the Taliban intends to manage political and military pressure from Islamabad while maintaining domestic credibility.

Critics argue that without a clearer or firmer response to cross-border attacks, such messaging may be interpreted less as strategic diplomacy and more as an attempt to contain a difficult regional crisis.
