At least six people were killed and three others injured in a traffic accident in Kandahar province on Friday, according to local Taliban police authorities.
The Kandahar Police Command said the crash occurred in Daman district along the Kabul–Kandahar highway after a Toyota Corolla collided with a trailer truck.
Asadullah Jamshid, spokesperson for the Kandahar police, said the victims were residents of Nangarhar and Kabul provinces.
He added that the injured victims were transferred to hospital for medical treatment.
The incident comes amid a recent increase in deadly traffic accidents across Afghanistan.
Poor road conditions, speeding, weak traffic enforcement, and unsafe driving practices remain among the main causes of traffic fatalities in the country.
