Saudi Arabia Rallies Behind Bahrain and Kuwait After Reported Iranian Attacks

عربستان: حملات ایران به بحرین و کویت تهدیدی برای امنیت منطقه است

Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned Iran’s reported attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, describing them as hostile acts that threaten regional and international security and raise the risk of wider instability across the Gulf.

According to Al Jazeera, the Saudi Foreign Ministry issued an official statement on Saturday denouncing the attacks as a clear violation of the sovereignty of two fellow Gulf Cooperation Council member states.

Riyadh warned that actions targeting Bahrain and Kuwait endanger not only the security of those countries but also the stability of the wider Middle East. The statement said continued escalation could push the region toward a more dangerous phase of confrontation and uncertainty.

Saudi officials stressed that the Kingdom fully supports Bahrain and Kuwait in defending their sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity. The statement reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to standing alongside its Gulf partners against threats to regional stability.

The condemnation follows reports from Kuwaiti authorities that the country’s air defense systems intercepted seven ballistic missiles over populated areas. Iranian officials, however, stated that the intended targets were U.S. military forces stationed at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.

The exchange of accusations comes amid rapidly escalating tensions involving Iran, the United States, and several regional actors. Military activity in and around the Gulf has intensified in recent weeks, fueling concerns about the possibility of a broader regional confrontation.

Saudi Arabia’s response reflects growing anxiety among Gulf states that direct military exchanges could spread beyond their original participants and affect neighboring countries. Regional governments remain particularly concerned about the potential impact on energy infrastructure, maritime security, and international trade routes.

The Gulf remains one of the world’s most strategically important regions, hosting critical oil and gas facilities as well as major shipping corridors that connect global markets. Any significant escalation could have consequences extending far beyond the Middle East.

Analysts note that Riyadh’s strong language signals a desire to present a united Gulf position at a time of increasing regional uncertainty. By publicly backing Bahrain and Kuwait, Saudi Arabia is emphasizing collective security within the GCC while sending a broader message about the importance of protecting regional sovereignty.

The latest developments underscore how quickly local military incidents can evolve into wider diplomatic and security challenges. As competing narratives emerge from Tehran, Washington, and Gulf capitals, the risk of miscalculation remains high. The coming days may prove critical in determining whether tensions can be contained or whether the region moves toward a more prolonged and dangerous period of confrontation.
