Following New Directive, Taliban Move to Replace Foreign Terms in State Offices

The Taliban leader has ordered the formation of a committee to review and replace foreign terms used in government institutions.

The Taliban Ministry of Justice said the body includes representatives from several state entities, including the ministries of justice, higher education, education, information and culture, as well as the group’s Academy of Sciences.

According to the directive, foreign terms used in official settings must be reviewed and replaced with justification.

The order emphasizes the use of “Islamic and Afghan” terminology instead.

No further details have been provided about which terms will be affected.

The move follows earlier actions by the Taliban to remove certain words, including “university,” from official signage.
