Russia’s presidential envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, says the return of US forces to Bagram Air Base is “completely unacceptable.”
In remarks to RIA Novosti, he said Moscow opposes any deployment of US or NATO military infrastructure in Afghanistan or neighboring countries under any pretext.
Kabulov expressed hope that the Taliban would take a similar position.
His comments come amid renewed speculation about a possible US request to regain access to Bagram.
He added that such requests had also been raised during Donald Trump’s administration and are not new.
