The Bank of England says future banknotes may feature images of wildlife instead of historical figures.
The decision follows a public consultation in which many citizens supported the idea of using wildlife on the country’s currency.
Environmental supporters have welcomed the move, saying it highlights nature and biodiversity.
However, some political figures and commentators have criticized the proposal, including Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who said replacing historical figures such as Winston Churchill would be the result of what he described as “woke culture.”
