Local sources have told Nimruz TV that three children were killed and at least four other members of the same family were injured after a suspected drone struck a house in the Barmal area of South Waziristan, in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the sources, the attack occurred on Saturday in the Nargasi neighborhood of Barmal Tehsil. The children who were killed were reportedly between six and fifteen years old. The injured were transferred to the district hospital in Wana for medical treatment.
Pakistani authorities have not issued an official statement on the incident, and no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the reported strike.
The incident comes only days after Pakistani media reported that three members of another family were killed and ten others injured in the Bajaur district following the explosion of another suspected drone.
Local residents have called for a transparent investigation into the latest incident, saying similar suspected drone attacks have increased in Barmal and surrounding areas in recent months, resulting in civilian casualties.
Nimruz TV has not been able to independently verify the claims made by local sources.
