The family of Engineer Ahmad Shafiq, a well-known figure in Afghanistan’s media community, has informed NIMRUZ TV that he was attacked by unidentified individuals at his residence during the early hours of the night.
According to information provided by family members, the incident occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. The attack also left Mr. Shafiq’s wife injured.
The family said Engineer Ahmad Shafiq was transferred to Kabul Emergency Hospital following the assault and is currently receiving treatment under intensive medical care. They described his condition as critical.
In a message sent to NIMRUZ TV, relatives expressed deep concern over his health and stated that family members have not yet been permitted to meet him directly, increasing anxiety about his condition.
The family described the incident as a disturbing act of violence and called on relevant security authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, identify those responsible and bring them before judicial institutions.
They also urged media organizations, journalist associations and human rights groups to closely monitor the case and support efforts aimed at ensuring accountability.
