Iran International, citing an informed source, has reported that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has formally requested to step down from office.
According to the report, the alleged resignation letter was submitted in recent hours and contains criticism of the country’s governance process.
The source claims that Pezeshkian warned that key areas of state administration have increasingly moved beyond formal government channels and are operating under the influence of military institutions.
According to the same source, the Iranian president argued that his government no longer plays an effective role in major national decision-making, making it difficult to carry out his constitutional and executive responsibilities.
Iran International further reported that Pezeshkian requested an immediate resignation from the presidency.
However, no official Iranian authority has confirmed or denied the report.
The Office of the President of Iran has also not issued any public statement regarding the allegations.
The report comes amid previous media accounts and political speculation about differences between the government and certain military and security institutions in Iran.
If officially confirmed, the resignation of President Pezeshkian would represent one of the most significant political developments in Iran in recent years.
At the time of publication, the claims remain unverified and should be treated as allegations until confirmed by official sources.
