A special Taliban court in Kabul has declared more than 1,500 jeribs of land in western Kabul’s so-called Hope Green Township as state-owned property.
According to the Taliban’s Ministry of Justice, a review of legal documents and cadastral records concluded that 1,507.49 jeribs in the area were registered as government land and had not been lawfully transferred to private individuals or entities.
Based on that assessment, the land has been placed under the ownership of the Taliban-controlled administration.
However, a source familiar with the matter told local media that the document review process lacked transparency and that concerns have emerged over possible discriminatory handling, although these claims remain independently unverified.
Since returning to power, Taliban authorities have launched broad campaigns under the banner of preventing land usurpation, but multiple reports have also raised concerns over contested confiscations.
The Hope Green Township case is likely to intensify broader debate over land rights, legal transparency, and the handling of property disputes in Afghanistan.
