Several informed local sources in Panjshir told Nimruz TV that Taliban forces detained more than 30 local residents following Monday’s explosion in Abdullahkhil Valley.
According to the sources, some of those detained were later released, but the exact number of people freed remains unclear.
Green Trend, the political and armed movement linked to former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh, claimed responsibility for the explosion shortly after the incident.
The group said its affiliated forces targeted a Taliban vehicle in Abdullahkhil Valley.
In a video released by the movement, a Taliban Ranger vehicle is seen being destroyed by a roadside mine explosion while allegedly transporting Taliban fighters to a base in the village of Manjenستو.
Local residents confirmed that the explosion took place near a volleyball field where several young people had gathered at the time of the incident.
Witnesses said Taliban fighters rushed into the area after the blast and detained many local youths.
One resident told Afghanistan International that Taliban forces now maintain a heavy presence on the roads and are “ready to fire.”
Sources identified two of the individuals still in Taliban custody as Shirzaman and Nurzaman, who are brothers.
According to the sources, Shirzaman is a former military serviceman while Nurzaman is currently working as a teacher.
A source close to the National Resistance Front said Taliban authorities transferred detainees to the district police command in Dara as well as the Panjshir provincial police headquarters for interrogation.
The Taliban have not yet publicly commented on the explosion or the status of those detained.
