US Deploys 2,000 Rapid Response Troops to Middle East Amid Rising Tensions

The New York Times reports that the Pentagon has ordered the deployment of around 2,000 US troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East.

According to two US defense officials, the troops are part of a rapid response force capable of deploying quickly anywhere in the world.

The deployment includes the division commander, staff members and two battalions of about 800 soldiers each.

The report says more troops could be sent in the coming days.

With this deployment, the total number of additional US forces sent to the region since the start of the conflict has reached about 7,000.

Officials said the exact location of the troops has not been disclosed but will allow for rapid response across the region.

The move comes as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise, raising concerns over a broader escalation.
