Russia’s Trade Center in Afghanistan says part of the Russian market’s demand for fruits and vegetables may now be supplied by Afghanistan after Iran halted food exports.
According to the Tatar-Inform news agency, requests for Afghan agricultural products in Russia have increased following Iran’s announcement of an unlimited ban on exporting food and agricultural goods.
Rustam Khabibullin, head of Russia’s Trade Center in Afghanistan, said a 100-ton shipment of Afghan apples has already been sent to Russia.
He added that exports of peppers, dried fruits, nuts, celery, pumpkins, eggplants, citrus fruits, berries, and other fresh vegetables are being prepared for shipment.
