Inayatullah Alokozay, a spokesman for the Taliban’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, says Afghanistan currently has around 32 million active SIM cards.
According to Alokozay, nearly 17 million subscribers use internet services, while around 10 million users have access to fourth-generation, or 4G, mobile services.
He claimed that the number of 4G users was slightly above two million before the Taliban returned to power.
The figures were provided by the Taliban’s communications ministry spokesman, and no independent sources were cited in the report to verify the statistics.
