Sources told Amu TV that Mansour Niazi and عمران دانش, two journalists from Tolo News, have been released from Taliban custody.
The two journalists had been detained by Taliban intelligence forces nearly two weeks ago.
Earlier, Taliban authorities confirmed the arrests and said the cases had been referred to court for review, but they did not publicly explain the reasons behind the detentions.
Mansour Niazi, a news anchor and political program host at Tolo News, was arrested on Thursday, 17 Sawr, by Taliban intelligence forces in Kabul’s Karte Char area.
No details have been released regarding the health condition of the two journalists or the circumstances surrounding their release.
The detention of journalists and media activists in Afghanistan in recent months has triggered criticism from media support organizations and human rights groups.
Freedom of expression advocates have repeatedly warned about growing pressure on journalists and independent media across Afghanistan.
