At least 11 civilians have been killed following a shooting by unidentified armed individuals in Herat province, triggering protests and a strike by local businesses.

Sources told Afghanistan International that shopkeepers, including gold traders and other صنوف, shut down their businesses on Saturday in protest against the killing of Shiite civilians.
